The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment, and Natural Resources met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in room 256-S. Centre Block, the Chair, the Honourable Nicholas W. Taylor, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Banks, Buchanan, P.C., Christensen, Finnerty, Kelleher, P.C., Sibbeston, Spivak and Taylor (9).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament; Lynne Myers, Research Officer and Mary Hurley.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, December 10, 2001, the committee proceeded to study Bill C-39, An Act to replace the Yukon Act in order to modernize it and to implement certain provisions of the Yukon Northern Affairs Program Devolution Transfer Agreement, and to repeal and make amendments to other Acts.

The witnesses made a presentation and answered questions.
The Yukon Territorial Government submitted a brief.
