The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 2 p.m, this day, in room 160-S, Centre Block, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Murray, P.C., presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators, Bolduc, Chaput, Comeau, Cordy, Doody, Furey, Gauthier, Hubley, Kinsella, Mahovlich, Milne, Murray, P.C., and Phalen (13).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Beaudoin, Oliver and Ringuette (3).

In attendance: Mr. Guy Beaumier, June Dewetering and Stephen Laurent, Research Officers, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on June 13, 2003, the committee continued its consideration of Bill C-25, the Public Service Modernization Act.

Ms. Nycole Turmel made an opening statement and, with Mr. Mark Pecek and Jacquie de Aguayo, answered questions from members of the committee.

Mr. Bob Emond made an opening statement and with Pierre de Blois answered questions from members of the committee.

Mr. Steve Hindle made an opening statement and answered questions from members of the committee.

Mr. William Krause made an opening statement and, with Claude Danik and Peter Englemann, answered questions from members of the committee.

At 5:22 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
