The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 7:09 p.m., in room 505, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Gerald Comeau, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Cochrane, Comeau, Cook, Mahovlich and Watt (6).
In attendance: Claude Emery, Research Analyst, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
WITNESSES:
From the Fisheries Council of Canada:
Mr. Patrick McGuinness, Vice-President.
On behalf of the Marine and Environmental Law Programme, Dalhousie University:
Professor Douglas Johnston.
The committee resumed consideration of its Order of Reference pertaining to its study on matters relating to straddling stocks and to fish habitat. (See Committee Proceedings of November 5, 2002, Issue No. 1.)
Mr. McGuinness made opening remarks.
Professor Johnston made a presentation and, together with Mr. McGuinness, answered questions.
At 9:03 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
