The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met this day at 6:31 p.m., in room B45, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Robert Black, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Black, Cotter, Dupuis, Klyne, Marwah, Oh and Simons (7).

Participating in the meeting: Offah Obale, Analyst, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, the committee continued its study on the status of soil health in Canada.

Compost Council of Canada:

Susan Antler, Executive Director;

Glenn Munroe, Manager, Special Projects.

Ducks Unlimited Canada:

Paul Thoroughgood, National Manager, Sustainable Agriculture.

At 6:34 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 6:37 p.m., the committee resumed.

Kier Miller, Susan Antler, Glenn Munroe and Paul Thoroughgood each made a statement and, together with Tim Nerbas, answered questions.

At 7:57 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 7:58 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to discuss a draft agenda (future business).

At 8:23 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
