The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Commerce and the Economy met this day at 6:30 p.m., in room W120, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable Pamela Wallin, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Deacon (Nova Scotia), Gignac, Loffreda, Marshall, Massicotte, Ringuette, Smith, Wallin, Woo and Yussuff (11).

Participating in the meeting: Edison Roy-César and Adriane Yong, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, December 16, 2021, the committee continued its study of matters relating to banking, trade and commerce generally.

WITNESSES:

Bank of Canada:

Tiff Macklem, Governor;

Carolyn Rogers, Senior Deputy Governor.

Tiff Macklem made a statement and, together with Carolyn Rogers, answered questions.

At 7:43 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 7:48 p.m., the committee resumed.

At 8:26 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
