The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Commerce and the Economy met this day at 11:29 a.m., in room W110, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable Pamela Wallin, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Galvez, Gignac, Loffreda, Marshall, Martin, Massicotte, Miville-Dechêne, Petten, Wallin and Yussuff (11).

Participating in the meeting: Brett Howard and Adriane Yong, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, December 16, 2021, the committee continued its study of matters relating to banking, trade and commerce generally.

WITNESSES:

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation:

Bob Dugan, Chief Economist;

Carla Staresina, Vice-President, Commercial Products;

Neil Levecque, Vice-President, Housing Operations.

Desjardins Group:

Randall Bartlett, Senior Director, Canadian Economics.

Bob Dugan made a statement and together with Carla Staresina and Neil Levecque, answered questions.

At 12:26 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 12:29 p.m., the committee resumed.

Randall Bartlett made a statement and answered questions.

At 1:13 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
