The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met this day at 9 a.m., in room W110, 1 Wellington St., the deputy chair, the Honourable Éric Forest, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boehm, Dagenais, Duncan, Forest, Galvez, Gignac, Loffreda, Marshall, Pate and Smith (10).

Participating in the meeting: Tracy Amendola, Administrative Assistant, Committees Directorate; Shaowei Pu and Sylvain Fleury, analysts, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, the committee continued its examination of the expenditures set out in the Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024.

Anick Ouellette, Assistant Deputy Minister and Chief Financial Officer;

Annie Boyer, Director General, Financial Planning and Management and Deputy Chief Financial Officer;

Kati Csaba, Executive Director, Ukraine Bureau;

Weldon Epp, Assistant Deputy Minister, Indo-Pacific;

Andrew Smith, Director General, International Assistance Policy;

Glen Linder, Director General, North America;

Geneviève Brown, Executive Director, Climate Finance.

Veterans Affairs Canada:

Steven Harris, Assistant Deputy Minister, Service Delivery Branch;

Jonathan Adams, Acting Director General and Acting Chief Financial Officer, Finance.

Anick Ouellette and Steven Harris each made a statement and, together with Jonathan Adams, Geneviève Brown, Annie Boyer and Weldon Epp, answered questions.
