Pursuant to the order of the Senate of March 31, 2022, the Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in camera this day in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, and with videoconference, at 9:02 a.m. ET, the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Francis, Kutcher, and Ravalia (3).
Members of the committee present by videoconference: The Honourable Senators Christmas, Cordy, Cormier, Manning, McPhedran and Quinn (6).
Participating in the meeting: Kevin Pittman, Procedural Clerk, International and Interparliamentary Affairs; Sara Gajic, Legislative Clerk and Elda Donnelly, Administrative Assistant, Committees Directorate; Daniele Lafrance, Analyst, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 10, 2022, the committee continued its study on the implementation of Indigenous rights-based fisheries across Canada.
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee discussed in camera a draft report.
At 10:37 a.m., the committee resumed in public.
It was agreed that the following budget application in relation to the committee’s special study on the implementation of Indigenous rights-based fisheries across Canada, for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023, be approved for submission to the Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration.
