Pursuant to the order of the Senate of March 31, 2022, the Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs met this day in room B45, Senate of Canada Building, and with videoconference, at 12:02 p.m. ET, the chair, the Honourable David Richards, presiding.

Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senator Boisvenu (1).

Members of the subcommittee present by videoconference: The Honourable Senators Anderson, Boniface, Richards and Yussuff (4).

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 10, 2022, the subcommittee began its study of issues relating to Veterans Affairs, including services and benefits provided, commemorative activities, and the continuing implementation of the Veteran’s Well-being Act. (TOPIC: Emerging treatments for Canadian Armed Forces and Royal Canadian Mounted Police Veterans suffering from occupational stress injuries)

Dr. Alexandra Heber, Chief of Psychiatry;

Crystal Garrett-Baird, Director General, Policy and Research Division.

As an individual:

Dr. Barbara O. Rothbaum, Executive Director, Emory Healthcare Veterans Program and Associate Vice Chair of Clinical Research, Department of Psychiatry, Emory School of Medicine.

Alexandra Heber and Barbara O. Rothbaum each made a statement and, together with Crystal Garrett-Baird, answered questions.

At 12:57 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the chair.
