The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs met in camera this day at 12 p.m., in room B45, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable David Richards, presiding.

Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Anderson, Boisvenu, Deacon (Ontario), Richards and Yussuff (5).

Participating in the meeting: Jean-Rodrigue Paré and Diana Ambrozas, analysts, Library of Parliament; Ben Silverman, Communications Officer and Lucy Scholey, Writer, Communications, Broadcasting and Publications Directorate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, February 10, 2022, the subcommittee continued its study on issues relating to Veterans Affairs, including services and benefits provided, commemorative activities, and the continuing implementation of the Veterans Well-being Act.

It was agreed that the subcommittee allow the transcription of today’s in camera meeting, that one copy be kept with the clerk of the subcommittee for consultation by subcommittee members and/or staff, and that the transcript be destroyed by the clerk when authorized to do so by the Chair and Deputy Chair, but no later than at the end of this parliamentary session.

The subcommittee discussed in camera a draft report.

It was agreed:

That the draft report be adopted, and that the chair and deputy Chair be empowered to approve the final version of the report, taking into consideration this meeting’s discussions, and with any necessary editorial, grammatical and translation changes required;

That the chair be authorized to present the report to the Standing Committee on National Security, Defense and Veterans Affairs, for consideration at the earliest opportunity.

At 12:47 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the chair.
