The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met this day at 8 a.m., in room B30, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Joan Kingston, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Arnold, Aucoin, Fridhandler, Kingston, McCallum, Verner, P.C., Wells (Newfoundland and Labrador), Wilson and Youance (9).
Participating in the meeting: Emilie Doyon and Laura Blackmore, Analysts, Library of Parliament; Monica Granados, Communications Officer, Communications, Broadcasting and Publications Directorate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, the committee continued its consideration of Bill S-4, An Act to amend the Energy Efficiency Act.

Olivia Auriat, Carol McGlogan and Perry Chao each made a statement and answered questions.
At 8:52 a.m., the committee suspended.
At 8:58 a.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to discuss a draft agenda (future business).
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, September 25, 2025, the committee continued its study on such issues as may arise from time to time relating to energy, the environment, natural resources and climate change. It was agreed that the committee allow the audio recording of the in camera portion of today’s meeting, that one copy be kept with the clerk of the committee for consultation by committee members or by the committee analysts, and that the audio recording be destroyed by the clerk when authorized to do so by the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, but no later than at the end of this parliamentary session.
At 9:28 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
