The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in camera this day at 9:01 a.m., in room W110, 1 Wellington St., the chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boudreau, Busson, Cuzner, Deacon (Nova Scotia), Dhillon, Gerba, Greenwood, Manning, Poirier, Prosper and Surette (11).

Participating in the meeting: Daniele Lafrance, Analyst, Library of Parliament; Monica Granados, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.

Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee discussed in camera a draft agenda (future business).

It was agreed that, notwithstanding the motion adopted at the Fisheries and Oceans meeting on Thursday, October 2, 2025, the committee agree that a student from the University of British Columbia, who is shadowing a member of the committee for the day, be allowed to attend the in camera meeting on this day, Thursday, October 23, 2025.

It was agreed that the committee allow the audio recording of this in camera meeting, that one copy be kept with the clerk of the committee for consultation by committee members and their staff, and that the audio recording be destroyed by the clerk of the committee when authorized to do so by the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, but no later than at the end of this parliamentary session.

It was agreed that the chair would request a complete and detailed response from the government to the eighth report of the Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans, entitled Sealing the Future: A Call to Action, adopted in the Senate on September 24, 2024, during the First Session of the Forty Fourth Parliament.

At 9:27 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
