The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 4:15 p.m., in room B45, Senate of Canada Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Flordeliz (Gigi) Osler, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Arnold, Bernard, Burey, Greenwood, McPhedran, Muggli, Osler, Petitclerc and Senior (9).
Participating in the meeting: Laura Blackmore, Analyst, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, June 12, 2025, the committee continued its consideration of Bill S-201, An Act respecting a national framework on sickle cell disease.

Dr. Catherine Moltzan, Hematologist, Hematology Specialty Committee.
Health Standards Organization:
Sandra Young, Executive Director, Standards and Education (by videoconference).
Canadian Haemoglobinopathy Association:
Dr. Robert Klaassen, Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist;
Dr. Alan Tinmouth, Physician and Director, Ottawa Hospital Hemoglobinopathy Program.
Catherine Moltzan, Sandra Young, Robert Klaassen and Alan Tinmouth each made a statement and answered questions.
At 5:19 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
