WHAT IS
SENGAGE?

SENgage is the Senate of Canada’s youth outreach program.

Through SENgage, young people from across the country can engage with senators, learn about the Senate’s role in Canada’s parliamentary democracy, and see how senators play a leading role on key national issues.

SENgage welcomes event requests from schools, colleges, universities and youth-serving organizations. SENgage is your point of contact throughout the process and can provide educational resources to help prepare your group for the experience.

Testimonials

“It was my first time hosting a senator and working with SENgage. After the presentation, my class and I spoke for almost another hour debriefing and discussing. The students were interested and when I asked if we should do something like this again in future classes, the resounding answer was “Yes!” I think that's a huge vote of confidence coming from teenagers. The senator was an excellent match for my students and a shining example of the advocacy and dedication of our senators. I would totally do this again!”

“With the opportunity to hear from six wonderful senators, their stories prove that politics doesn’t have to divide us; it can be the place where diverse experiences unite to solve problems together. I left believing that when we bring our full identities to the table, we are able to strengthen each other and our communities. That’s the kind of politics I want to help build.”

- Grade 11 Student, Vancouver School Board, Vancouver (British Columbia)
