The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment, and Natural Resources met at 5:35 p.m. this day, in room 257 East Block, the Chair, the Honourable Nicholas W. Taylor, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Buchanan, P.C., Christensen, Cochrane, Finnerty, Hervieux-Payette, P.C. and Taylor (7).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senator Cools and Watt (2).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Lynne Myers, Research Officer.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on May 10, 2001, the committee proceeded to study Bill S-18 (See Issue No.11, Tuesday, June 5, 2001 and Thursday, June 7, 2001 for full text of the Order of Reference.)
WITNESSES:
From the Canadian Water and Wastewater Association:
Duncan Ellison, Executive Director;
Ron Patterson, President;
André Proulx, 2nd Vice President;
Ian Douglas, Chair of the Drinking Water Quality Committee.
The witnesses made a presentation and answered questions.
The Canadian Water and Wastewater Association submitted a brief.
At 6:55 p.m., it was agreed - That the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.
