The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 9:40 a.m., the Chair, the Honourable Senator Lise Bacon, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Bacon, Grimard, Johnson, Kinsella, Mercier, Pépin, Roberge and Watt. (9)
In attendance: Matthew W. Fraser, Expert Consultant; Monique Hébert, Research Officer, Research Branch, Library of Parliament; Terrence J. Thomas, Research Officer, Economics Division; Michel Patrice, Legislative Clerk, Committees and Private Legislation Directorate; Marc Chénier, Committee Researcher.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, April 10, 1997, the committee resumed consideration of Bill C-32, An Act to amend the Copyright Act.
The witnesses from the Canadian Association of Broadcasters made a statement and answered questions.
It was agreed, -- THAT the presentation by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters be filed with the Clerk of the Committee (Exhibit 5900 T1-2.35/C-32, 16, "23").
The witness from the Association canadienne de la radio et de la télévision de langue française made a statement and answered questions.
It was agreed, -- THAT the presentation by the Association canadienne de la radio et de la télévision de langue française be filed with the Clerk of the Committee (Exhibit 5900 T1-2.35/C-32, 16, "24").
The witness from Golden West Broadcasting Ltd. made a statement and answered questions.
It was agreed, -- THAT the presentation by the Golden West Broadcasting Ltd. be filed with the Clerk of the Committee (Exhibit 5900 T1-2.35 /C-32, 16, "25").
The Honourable Senator Johnson moved that the interim report of the Subcommittee on Communications entitled: Wired to Win be adopted and that the Chair table the report in the Senate.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
At 11:03 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair
