The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 9:32 a.m, this day, in Room 705, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Murray, P.C., presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Biron, Comeau, Cook, Cools, Day, Doody, Furey, Gauthier, Hubley, Lynch-Staunton, Mahovlich and Murray, P.C. (12).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Stratton (1).

In attendance: Mr. Guy Beaumier, Research Officer, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on February 27, 2003, the committee undertook its examination of the Supplementary Estimates (B) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2003.

WITNESSES:

From the Treasury Board Secretariat

Richard J. Neville, Deputy Comptroller General, Comptrollership Branch;

David Bickerton, Executive Director, Expenditure Operations and Estimates Directorate, Comptrollership Branch.

Mr. Neville made an opening statement and with Mr. Bickerton answered questions from members of the committee.

At 11:04 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
