Ottawa – The Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs released its report on Bill C-45, the Cannabis Act yesterday.

The committee brought forward a number of recommendations and observations to the Senate concerning the legalization of cannabis. The Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology will be able to consider them prior to submitting its report on May 29, 2018.

Pursuant to a motion adopted in the Senate on February 15, 2018, the committee was authorized to study elements contained in parts 1, 2, 8, 9 and 14 of the bill. The committee carefully considered questions related to prohibitions, obligations and violations, ticketing regimes, search warrants as well as the disposition of seized property.
