Wednesday, March 27, 2019 – Senator Rosemary Moodie gives a keynote speech on women’s leadership during the annual Student Leadership Recognition Awards Ceremony at Brescia University College, an all-women’s college of Western University.

Wednesday, May 1, 2019 – Senators Rosemary Moodie, Stan Kutcher, Mohamed-Iqbal Ravalia and Marie-Françoise Mégie celebrate Canada’s National Doctors’ Day to recognize and celebrate the contributions that physicians make to the health and well-being of patients and communities.

Thursday, May 9, 2019 – Senator Marty Deacon speaks to almost 300 Grade 10 students at St. Patrick’s Catholic High School in Sarnia, Ont. about her duties as a senator.

Tuesday, May 21, 2019 – Senator Michael L. MacDonald visited North Queens Community School in Caledonia, N.S. He met with Grade 9 students currently studying citizenship and spoke about the role of the Senate, what senators do in their work and his own path to the Upper Chamber. 

Thursday, May 23, 2019 – Senator Percy Downe and Senator Diane Griffin attend a commemorative ceremony at the Queen Charlotte Armoury in Charlottetown, P.E.I., to mark the 75th Anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy on June 6.

Friday, May 24, 2019 – Senator Éric Forest attends the change of command ceremony at the Institut maritime du Québec in Rimouski. Mélanie Leblanc is the first woman at the helm of the Institut in its 75-year history.

Friday, May 24, 2019 – Senator Grant Mitchell visits the TELUS World of Science – Edmonton with CEO Alan Nursall, who showed the senator the science museum’s newest galleries.

Saturday, May 25, 2019 – Senator Rob Black helps plant 400 potted trees and plugs in Wellington County as a part of the Green Legacy Programme, which is the largest municipal tree-planting programme in North America.

Tuesday, May 28, 2019 – Senator Chantal Petitclerc hosts a reception with the Paralympic Foundation of Canada to recognize supporters of the ImagiNation campaign, which helps develop the next generation of Paralympic athletes.


Monday, May 27, 2019 – Senator Kim Pate hosts students from Ottawa’s Blue Sky School in the Upper Chamber and answered questions about the role and the future of Canada’s Senate.


Wednesday, May 29, 2019 – Senators Colin Deacon and Stan Kutcher speak with Education First Canadian youth ambassadors about mental health. There were 30 youth ambassadors representing every province and territory.

Friday, May 17, 2019 – Senator Josée Forest-Niesing hosts 39 Grade 6 students from Ottawa’s l’École élémentaire catholique d’enseignement personnalisé Édouard-Bond in the Senate Chamber. The senator spoke to the group about the Senate, the role of senators, how debate functions in the Red Chamber and the importance of debate in the legislative process.

Friday, May 3, 2019 – Senator Pierre J. Dalphond meets with the delegates of the North American Actuarial Council from the United States, Mexico and Canada. He hosted a panel on the role of the Senate.
