Wednesday, April 10, 2019 – Senators Donna Dasko and Pat Bovey join former Governor General Michaëlle Jean and South Africa’s High Commissioner to Canada, Sibongiseni Yvonnne Dlamini-Mntambo, at a reception at the Bank of Canada. The Canadian Museum for Human Rights held the reception to celebrate the life of Viola Desmond, whose likeness is now featured on the $10 note.

Tuesday, April 16, 2019 – Senator Yonah Martin joins Korean War veterans, Consul General Byung-won Chung, and members of the local Korean Canadian community to commemorate the 68th Anniversary of the Battle of Kapyong at the Derek Doubleday Arboretum with a special flag raising ceremony in Langley, British Columbia.

Monday, April 22, 2019 – Senator Stan Kutcher attends the Believe in Hope event in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The event helps support youth who are experiencing serious mental illness.

Tuesday, April 23, 2019 – Senators Diane Bellemare, Éric Forest, Julie Miville-Dechêne, Marie-Françoise Mégie, Marc Gold, Judith Seidman and Pierre Dalphond visit the Mila Centre – a worldwide hub of deep learning in Montreal. They met with students, researchers and the founder, Dr. Yoshua Bengio, to talk about artificial intelligence in Canada

Friday, April 26, 2019 – Senator Brian Francis attends a ceremony where he presented Senate 150 anniversary medals at Government House in Charlottetown. The event was hosted by Antoinette Perry, Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island. Local musicians and Indigenous dancers and drummers performed for the recipients and their friends and family.

Tuesday, April 30, 2019 – Senator Rob Black hosts a group of students from Centre Wellington District High School in the Senate Chamber and discussed the role of the Senate in Canada’s parliamentary democracy.

Friday, April 26, 2019 – Senator Ratna Omidvar interviews world-renowned artist and filmmaker Ai Weiwei at the screening of his latest film, The Rest, at the 2019 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival in Toronto.

Wednesday, May 1, 2019 – Senator Pat Duncan meets with a group of Girl Guides in the Senate Chamber. Senator Duncan spoke about the role of the Senate and her own journey to becoming a senator as part of a SENgage youth-outreach event.

Sunday, May 5, 2019 – Senator Rob Black attends the Commemoration of the Battle of the Atlantic at the National War Memorial in Ottawa.
