Canada Day is a time for friends and family to come together and celebrate all the good our great country has to offer.
In Newfoundland and Labrador, however, July 1 is also Memorial Day — the anniversary of the Battle of Beaumont-Hamel that devastated the Newfoundland Regiment in the First World War.
