Friday, March 22, 2019 – Senator Donna Dasko hosts University of Toronto Women in House participants (from left) Ashley Gold, Paulina Chan, and Simran Sawhey at the Senate of Canada Building. The U of T Women in House program is aimed at promoting greater gender representation in the federal government by inviting female U of T students to shadow a Canadian parliamentarian for a full day.

Friday, March 15, 2019 – Senator Jim Munson holds a two-day-old baby at the Ruhombo Health Centre in the mountainous Burera District of Rwanda. The Canada-Africa Parliamentary Association visited the Canadian-funded project while learning about maternal and child health in the country. 

Friday, March 22, 2019 – Senator Pierre Dalphond meets with political science students from the University of Ottawa in the Senate Chamber with Professor Pierre Martel. The students posed many pertinent questions on the role of the Senate in Canada’s Parliament.

Friday, March 22, 2019 – Senator Paula Simons has a chance encounter with a squadron of Edmonton air cadets (Blatchford Field Squadron 504) in Ottawa outside of the Chateau Laurier.

Thursday, March 21, 2019 – Senators Marilou McPhedran, Larry W. Smith and Julie Miville-Dechêne participate in a question-and-answer period in the Senate Chamber with Forum for Young Canadians participants. It was an opportunity for participants to learn more about the Senate, the work of the senators and what it means to be a leader.

Thursday, March 21, 2019 – Senator Rob Black meets Will Dixon of St. Jacob’s, Ontario, in his office in Ottawa. Will is a participant in the Forum for Young Canadians program, where participants visit the Senate and House of Commons to learn about the functions of Canada’s Parliament.


Thursday, March 21, 2019 – Speaker George J. Furey greets participants of the Forum for Young Canadians program in the Senate Chamber and discusses the role of the Senate in Canada’s parliamentary democracy.

Wednesday, March 20, 2019 – Senator Lucie Moncion delivers remarks on the occasion of International Francophonie Day at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario. The event was organized by the ACFO-ACAF.

Monday, March 11, 2019 – Senator Yuen Pau Woo visits King David High School in Vancouver, British Columbia. Senator Woo spoke with students about the Senate as part of a SENgage youth-outreach event.


Monday, March 11, 2019 – Members of the Canadian Council of Young Feminists meet with senators Marilou McPhedran, Kim Pate and Donna Dasko — founding members of the Canadian Association of Feminist Parliamentarians — at the Canadian reception during the UN Commission on the Status of Women’s 63rd session.
